Cape d’Or is an Atlantic Canada-Based Atlantic salmon aquaculture facility dedicated to providing fresh, sustainable and organic salmon to table across Canada.
Based in Nova Scotia, Cape d’Or is the only land-based, Pro-Cert certified organic Atlantic salmon facility in the world. Their land-based, closed-containment aquaculture practices minimize environmental impact while promoting biosecurity standards by removing any risk of inter-species cross-contamination or transfer of pathogens.
Additionally, Cape d’Or salmon are raised in a state-of-the-art saltwater recirculation system, sourcing all their water from bio secure seawater wells, which is then naturally filtered through over 600 feet of gravel before reaching the facility. This, combined with their fully organic, locally sourced, fish-based feed, results in a healthy and high-quality fish that is free of GMO’s, antibiotics, parasiticides, and hormones.
Beyond providing delicious and sustainable salmon, Cape d’Or is dedicated to giving back to their community by providing jobs to rural Nova Scotians and working with local small businesses.
Cape d’Or salmon contains natural carotenoids, such as astaxanthin. Astaxanthin provides numerous health benefits such as heart health, skin health, brain function, immune support and many more. Salmon get their beautiful red hue through Astaxanthin. Cape d’Or salmon attain this through natural astaxanthin source, Panaferd.
“Cape d’Or takes great pride in producing a land-based organic Atlantic Salmon with unparalleled flavor and health benefits. To achieve this our fish need to eat feed containing only the best quality ingredients. One of those ingredients is Panaferd. Panaferd is an array of super antioxidants and is the same source of colour found in wild Atlantic salmon. Panaferd gives our organic salmon a colour that equals or excels the beauty of a wild Atlantic salmon and our customers go crazy over it.”
